The annual Pinterest Predicts Report tends to be the only trends forecast that I pay attention to each New Year. The visual discovery platform has over 482 million users and works as a search engine rather than a social media app, so it is a real insight into what people are seeking out for their homes and gardens for the year ahead.

For 2025, Pinterest has predicted seven key decor schemes that will see an increase in popularity and will influence high-street homeware design. Here is a glimpse into what we can expect and how you can get the look!

Deep cherry red and maroon shades

2024 room schemes were awash with that ‘unexpected pop of red’ (the interior design trick where it’s believed that you can add one single red item to elevate any space) and 2025 is predicted as being the year that rich red shades will be found in multiple bedrooms, living rooms, kitchens and bathrooms.

According to Pinterest, the search for ‘cherry bedroom’ is up 100%, so anticipate cherry red lamps, accent furniture and paint colours to be popping out at you everywhere in 2025.

Fish

While this might be surprising, I’ve seen sardine-tin adorned homeware and ‘fish on a plate’ art prints already in demand; the trend also doesn’t stop at fish motifs: fisherman stripes, cable knit cushions and lobster designs will adorn our soft furnishings and serveware for the year ahead.

Cutecore

Rather than an ‘on the rise’ trend, the pastel palette for the home has been popular for a few years now and according to Pinterest, it’s not going anywhere. ‘Cutecore room ideas’ are up 40%, as the desire for the modern Scandi look of ice-cream-coloured whimsical interiors (think colour-blocked clusters of lilac, pink, pale yellow, sky blue and mint green) remains strong.

Rococo Revival

Drawing inspiration from the Rococo era (a Late Baroque period that was both opulent and ultra-feminine), the Rococo revival trend is all about time-honoured luxury. Rooms will feature soft furnishings made with high-quality textiles and edged with fringing, tassels, ruffles, lace and frills. Expect to see older, ornate vintage furniture upholstered in modern fabrics and the inclusion of bows on everything!

Primary Play

Stripes in primary colours and hand-painted furniture embody this modern, creative trend. Freehand drawings of trim and mouldings on walls and wardrobes, as well as DIY detailing on door edges and picture frames in shades of cobalt blue, mustard yellow and pillar box red, is a trend that has arisen thanks to bold designers, leading social media creatives and artisan interior tastemakers.

Castlecore

Artists like Chappel Roan have brought back medieval style into the mix, so expect to see more grandiose room schemes and darker, brooding interiors, as the search for ‘castle house’ inspiration has shot up by 45% on Pinterest. Four-poster beds, draped curtains, plummy brown paint colours and metallic accents will all be more prominent in 2025.

Mix & Maximalist

The popular days of beige may be over as the search for ‘Eclectic Boho Bedroom’ inspiration is up 65% on Pinterest. Ultimately eccentric with its pattern clashing, bold colour mixing and ‘more is more’ style, with the Mix & Maximalist trend anything goes: pair animal prints alongside florals, stripes alongside gingham and combine vivid orange shades with contrasting greens.
