Five of the best whimsical home decor and gift shops in Paris

After securing some great value train tickets in the Eurostar sale at the end of last year, last week, my friend and I headed to Paris to do a day of shopping for beautiful home decor items and Parisian gifts. Unsurprisingly, Paris has some very unique stores and boutiques and here are five of my favourites that we visited on our trip.

Marin Montagut

I’d been desperate to visit this homeware store near the Jardin du Luxembourg for a long time. Inside this exquisite boutique of French illustrator and designer Marin Montagut, you’ll find plates, mugs, stationary, sculptures and candles adorned with Marin’s intricate artwork. All of the products convey Marin’s love of Paris and the store itself is charming and aesthetically joyful. I was a particular fan of the Matchboxes shaped like a Parisian home and the printed scarfs, both of which came home with me!

Top Tip: If you want to obtain some of Marin’s products without taking a trip to France, Liberty London has a Marin Montagut concession currently in store (although prices are significantly higher than you’ll find within the Paris shop).

Alix De Reynis

This sophisticated store full of milky-white porcelain sculptures handmade in France is a delight to visit. Containing homeware that will last a lifetime, you’ll find beautifully crafted everyday items such as vases, pots, cups, plates, lighting and home decorations. I also highly recommend investigating the luxury scented candle range: refined fragrances poured from vegetable wax featuring a cotton wick and hosted in the most elegant porcelain vessels.

Merci Paris

Merci Paris is kind of like a French Urban Outfitters meets Anthropologie meets Liberty. Containing a mix of homeware, gifts, fashion, beauty and stationary, it has a cute library cafe attached and a great kitchenware section.

Fleux

What makes Fleux so special is the sheer floor space that they take up in Paris. A collection of six concept stores next door to one another, Fleux mixes up furniture, lighting, decor, kids and gifting. One store has a focus on modern Danish design, while the next will be full of trinkets for a few Euros each. Modern and colourful, expect brands such as Anna + Nina and HK Living.

Queen Elizabeth II Flower Market

Right in the heart of Paris (next to Notre Dame) is this flower market full of pots, plants and gift ideas. Go in the spring/summer to get inspired by all the colourful blooms, alongside picking up some embroidered lavender bags, detailed bird boxes and vintage postcards.
