Spring Table Decor Ideas: 5 Easy Tips for a Vibrant Tablescape
I recently created a vibrant spring and summer table setting using the new Lucy Tiffney range of serveware available at UK high street brand Next, so I thought I would share some of the images that I took of the tablescape, along with my five key tips on laying a colourful and joyful spring table at home.
Choose a patterned tablecloth over a plain one
For a vibrant spring-like table setting, avoid plain table linens that have no detailing because these can feel quite formal. Instead, cover the table with a lighthearted gingham patterned tablecloth or simple ticking stripes for a pretty base layer that feels more casual. Floral tablecloths also work well - especially those with delicate pressed flower prints in softer, muted shades of lilacs or pinks.
Include the colour yellow
The ultimate spring shade, yellow has to be included in a tablescape that evokes the joyful feeling of the season. If you have no yellow plates or serveware, include yellow in the flowers: bright and beautiful mimosa balls or sprigs of yellow-budded foliage will add a heavy dose of yellow to the table. You can also opt for soft yellow dinner candles or yellow napkins.
Spring flowers are key
Those first flowers that bloom at the end of the winter months signify the move into spring and are synonymous with the change in seasons. Tulips, narcissus, muscari, hyacinths, mimosa and anemones are great cut flowers to include on the table to reflect spring. Either fill one large pitcher with spring flowers for a central spring centrepiece or sprinkle compact bud vases up and down the table to fill any gaps and smother the table with colour.
Mix and match
Unlike more formal seasonal events (such as Christmas), spring and Easter tables should be more fun and relaxed. A great way to achieve a casual table setting is to mix and match the serveware. Try combining tumbler glasses in different colours, while bud vases can be different shapes and sizes.
Avoid metallics
Silver Salt and pepper pots or candleholders with chrome or brass coatings are too formal for a sunny spring table. Avoid adding these to your table setting and instead, opt for items which are in a neutral, pastel, or a spring-like shade.
