On My Radar: New Interiors & Homeware For Summer 2022
I’ll keep my blog posts short and sweet this month as we are all busy with well-earned trips away, occupying the kids during school break, or just leisurely enjoying the long August summer evenings. With that in mind, my post today is a quick round-up of some lovely new homeware bits that I have seen and saved to my ‘favourites’ folder.
First up is this side table from budget-friendly Danish retailer JYSK. Made from ash veneer, bamboo and MDF, it ticks all of 2022’s trend boxes with its circular top, cut-out arches and lacquered burgundy colourway, but its most appealing feature is the price - this stylish end table is only £30.
Another piece of high-street furniture that caught my eye was this very unique coffee table, new in from Anthropologie EU. Made from ash wood veneer and engineered hardwood, It’s not as friendly on the purse as the JYSK end table (it’s currently £1298), but it looks super contemporary and high-end.
A brilliantly quirky idea, next on my summer hit list are these new candle lampshades by top interior design team Salvesen Graham. Made by hand in England, the small-scale shades contain a solid brass shade carrier that holds it in position when placed on top of a straight dinner candle. While mini lampshades for candles might sound absolutely bonkers, I love this idea to completely elevate a tablescape (simply pop a shade on a basic candle with a holder to resemble a compact and portable lamp). Two separate designs are available to buy now at £45 each, and do check out their new wallpaper range while you’re there!
I’ve always loved the work of artist Lucy Tiffney, but the floral designs she has created for her latest collaboration with Next Home are, I think, her best work to date. Foxgloves and delphiniums dance around on a choice of light or dark backdrops across the range, which includes curtains, cushions, vases and throws.
After a successful run of distributing lovingly restored archived artwork and prints, it feels like a natural progression for London-based brand Print-Sisters to develop their own wallpaper collection of original vintage designs. As well as keeping these beautiful patterns alive, Print-Sisters are committed to creating ethical and environmentally-aware products, so the non-woven wallpaper uses paper sourced from sustainably managed forests, while the printing process uses environmentally friendly inks.
A very exciting collaboration has occurred between British artist and designer Luke Edward Hall and luxury Italian home decor and fragrance brand Ginori 1935. Luke has worked with Ginori to create Profumi Luchino : five fragrances dedicated to destinations Luke has visited where he was enchanted by scent (the Cotswolds, Marrakech, Rajasthan, Big Sur, and Venice). Each designer fragrance is a journey to these locations and comes beautifully packaged in porcelain vessels made and decorated by hand. Pre-order now for delivery later in the month.
