5 Of The Best Freestanding Baths
I’ve always considered freestanding baths to be the bathroom equivalent of a lovely large fireplace in a sitting or living room. Your eye is instantly drawn to them as you walk in as they are the key focal point for the space. If you are renovating a bathroom and you are lucky enough to have enough square footage to take a freestanding tub, then I would splurge on a beautiful one and save everywhere else. With that in mind, today on the blog I am sharing five of the best freestanding baths. None of these are particularly budget options, but as I mentioned, save on the other elements (if the tiles aren’t the main feature then you don’t need to go for the pricey ones).
Resembling a delicate teacup or a vintage Sylvac planter, the Casini bath by BC Designs is a pretty, feminine dream. Made from the material Cian (which is warm to touch and retains heat for longer periods) you can purchase it in eight different colour options. My personal favourite is Satin Rose, as seen in the stunning home of @simply.weekend on Instagram. From £2916 ex VAT.
Sturdy, double-ended baths have been used a lot recently in American interior design. These tubs ooze luxury as they scream ‘country house spa break’ and can comfortably accommodate two people placed either end. This London Round Double Ended Bath, pictured above, by Burlington, is one of the best-priced options available at £1649.
If you plan on having a freestanding bath, but it has to be plumbed in near a wall and you don’t fancy squeezing in between the wall and the tub to have to clean down the side (can you tell I’m speaking from experience?), then this Cove Back-to-Wall Bath by Waters Baths of Ashbourne is just the ticket. It has all the lovely curves of a freestanding at the front but pleasantly meets the wall at the far side. It also gives you more storage space on top for bottles of bath oils (or a large G&T).
I absolutely love this encased bath by Lusso as it provides an option for a very modern freestanding bath (as opposed to all the traditional clawfoot tub designs). The look is smart and sharp, while the matte frame complements contemporary black fixtures and fittings. The Cuna bathtub by Patricia Urquiola, released in 2015, can be purchased from West One Bathrooms, but this Lusso Stone Resin option is a more affordable version at £1695.
If you want to treat yourself to something impressive and luxurious, this freestanding oval bath is perfect for a Scanalato-themed bathroom. The Maggiore Freestanding Bath from 34 St John is 1600mm of pure relaxation and retails at £1,595.
Made from marble and designed by esteemed interior legend Kelly Hoppen ensures that the Origami bath by apaiser comes with an eye-watering price tag (expect to pay over 5k), but it had to be included in this best-of round-up! While this bath was actually first released a few years ago, the huge trend for folds, ribbing and reeding make the Origami bath very 2021.
