The Best Wallpaper Designs For 2025 By Independent Artists

This week, I took a trip to Decorex: the London interior trade show that brings together the best in new home decor and features emerging and exciting new designers. I really do love visiting every year; it’s a great place to discover the latest textile prints, obtain a wealth of colour inspiration and get an idea of the forthcoming interior trends.

This year at the design fair, I discovered loads of wallpaper prints by independent brands and artists that I loved. I think using wallpaper to decorate will be huge next year as more people gain confidence in experimenting with patterns, so I thought I would share a few of my favourite finds:

Imogen Heath

I first discovered Imogen’s work at Decorex two years ago; the stand was a highlight and she’s back this year to promote the new range of patterned sheer fabrics, painterly wallpapers and award-winning trims and borders. I was given a wallpaper sample pack at the event and when I opened it at home, I fell in love with the new designs.

Including timeless checks, contemporary stripes and botanical motifs, ‘Fyvie’ is my favourite from these hand-painted and UK-printed wallpaper designs, swiftly followed by ‘Dotty Stripe’. Långelid/von Brömssen

The Swedish wallpaper brand Långelid/von Brömssen was showcasing at Decorex and it was the first time I had been introduced to their elegant range of Scandi wallpapers. The two designs that stood out to me the most were the interesting lines of ‘Jagged Stripe’ (in the light plum and blue dot colourway) and the closely grouped, autumnal leaf print of ‘Laura’ (in golden yellow).

'Laura' is one of those repetitive, small-scale prints that would work well in a small boot room or covering the walls in a compact hallway, while ‘Jagged Stripe’ is a more interesting take on traditional stripy wallpaper and would look good in a more formal space, such a dining room.

Ellen Merchant

British textile designer and decorative artist Ellen Merchant's new ‘Joya’ collection was a huge hit at the design fair. Produced via traditional roller printing, Ellen’s decorative floral ‘Bluebells’ wallpaper was my favourite design, although in fabrics it had to be the ‘Palmette Linen’ which adorned a stunning upholstered sofa in the centre of her stand.

Beautiful By George

I discovered a stunning floral wall mural by Beautiful By George on the lighting brand The Soho Lighting Company’s display stand. Depicting a tight grouping of cow parsley, foxgloves and dandelion heads, I was amazed by the detail within ‘Spring Tonic', a paste-the-wall wallcovering that is 100% PET plastic free and printed on eco and non-woven paper. Beautiful by George does not rely on graphical design to create their designs, opting for artisan methods instead to create something that feels more organic and realistic.
