The New Tom Dixon Collection For Autumn/Winter 2017

Last week was the press preview for Tom Dixon's new collection for Autumn/Winter 2017. If you follow me on Instagram stories you'll know I attend a ton of press previews for new interior items - so what makes this one so special? The answer to that is that Tom Dixon is THE pioneer in design for the home. You know whatever he does everyone else will follow. What is seen at this collection will filter down to high street home ware a short while later. When he started doing his Oil Slick range, the following season there were oil slick bowls and vases and plates; and lets not even start on 'copper'. His round copper pendant lights indisputably started the trend for copper in interiors.

So what's new for AW17? The good news is that it is a lot of pink, grey and black! Being a lover of cut flowers these beautiful translucent pink and grey vases were my favourite in the collection, which is titled 'Bump'. Mouth-blown into a mould, these vases are made of something called borosilicate, which is a heat resistant type of glass (which means they can go in the dishwasher - but like you would!)

As well as the vases made of borosilicate, there were also teapots, tumblers and jugs, which are all part of the 'Bump' range:

The Christmas gift of choice for those with impeccable taste has to be the decanters with correlating glasses, titled 'Tank'. This smoky black gift set is just stunning and I'd give my right arm to have this under the Xmas tree!

Old Skool Tom Dixon fans may also be pleased to know that there are also decanters coming out in copper.....

Personally, I loved the black, and if you are a hardened coffee drinker you'll be delighted to know that the 'Brew' range is designed for the coffee connoisseur:

Rendered in PVD with a brushed stainless-steel interior, they are like looking into a black mirror. Tom Dixon says "Black is our latest obsession. It’s the colour without hue, dark and mysterious, used in fashion as the base colour that never goes out of style, it allows us to celebrate the pure form and details of our objects with minimum distraction. Black strips an object down to its essence, giving the silhouettes a new graphic character allowing us to focus on enjoying the shape and the function. Recast in these dark tones, Brew and Tank take on a more serious and permanent attitude. Black is the non-colour that’s infinitely adaptable and always en vogue – suited to any backdrop or interior style."

So it really will be the case of black is back in home ware. Convinced?? Let me know in the comments section below!
